Intisar foundation is a humanitarian organization started in 2018 to provide Arab women with psychological support. We are the first charity organization in the Middle East focused entirely on healing Arab women from war trauma.
Our Founder, HH Sheikha Intisar AlSabah, had taken notice that few initiatives placed the psychological support dimension at the heart of their programs I decided to take action. She commits herself to the reconstruction of injured souls by focusing the foundation’s actions on psychological support programs. All our overhead costs are covered by our founder, HH Sheikha Intisar AlSabah.
While official reports have shown that women are the first victims of armed conflicts, Intisar Foundation exists to be part of the solution to build the post-war life by providing an initial response through psychological support programs.
“Only by knowing our strength can we pick others up when they are down and inspire them to rise above their challenges.”
I am an ardent believer of peace and humanitarian action.
Being fully committed to humanitarian causes, I have dedicated my time and effort to the issues of education, health, child protection, human rights. As a lifelong philanthropist, I have always been involved with Humanitarian organizations that work towards providing education, upliftment and equal opportunities to those who need it most. I have been involved in spreading awareness and raising funds for UNHCR for victims of the Syrian War.
In light of the latest conflicts in the Middle East, I founded Intisar Foundation in 2018, a charity born from a desire to give the opportunity for women to release their psychological trauma, to strengthen their resilience and to support them in to give them a new perspective to their life.
Intisar Foundation is a charity organization that provides psychological support to Arab women. We provide a gentle, culturally sensitive, and non-stigmatizing approaches to psychological support, doing that through group Drama Therapy programs that target women in refugee dense areas.
We believe that women are the cornerstone of every household and the material that holds communities together. Hence focusing our efforts on women, as we believe they will instill this positive change within their families and communities at large.
Our programs are impactful and effective in alleviating war trauma. We offer group therapy of 12 weekly sessions over three months for each group of women. Each group is no more than 20 women, giving each participant enough time to space to heal properly. Following this, the participants are invited to attend ongoing monthly sessions that provide the support and continuity needed to sustain their personal growth and healing process. This unique model is the first of its kind, developed by Intisar Foundation, to ensure effective and sustained psychological improvement for the beneficiaries.
Our programs have helped women overcome depression, anxiety, and trauma related to their war and post-migration conditions. They also create a sense of community among the participants and build a network of supportive and understanding peers.
You can help by donating to Intisar Foundation, contributing to our mission of healing and empowering One Million Arab Women. By donating to Intisar Foundation, you are helping us reach one more woman in need of psychological support, implementing more programs to reach more communities, and planting one more smile on an Arab woman’s face.
Intisar Foundation’s new logo symbolizes the journey of a woman affected by war with the use of Drama Therapy that liberates her mind and releases unresolved emotions.
Our woman goes from being in the foetal position caused by feelings of torment and helplessness and as she starts attending our programs she starts growing in resiliency as she strengthens her tired mind, she grows inside, she stands up to have a voice and be seen and triumphant over her ordeal. This transformation showcases her victory over her trauma while rising to the challenge of rebuilding her self-confidence, holding-up her family, supporting her community and bringing Peace to her country.
The logo tells the story of change, showing how with the support of Intisar Foundation a woman in despair morphs to a woman rebuilt, self-assured and victorious.
Intisar means “victory” in Arabic, the logo is a dedication to the triumph of hope & peace over helplessness & hardship.
Officially registered as a humanitarian organisation with the Charity Commission for England and Wales in 2019, Intisar Foundation is the first charitable organisation in the Middle East dedicated to providing psychological support programmes of drama therapy to Arab women affected by the brutality of war and violence.
