Ahmed Nouh was born in Doha in 1972. He studied for over four years at the Visual Arts Center in the Department of Drawing and Painting with D. Mustafa Essa. Nooh is a member of the Souq Waqif Art Center, Qatar Fine Arts Society, and has been an artist-in-residence at the Fire Station in Doha leading him to a subsequent residency at Cité International des Arts in Paris. His first solo exhibition titled, “Traces of Life,” premiered in January 2019 as part of his artist residency at Cité Internationale des Arts.
He has explored a wide range of materials throughout his practice, including burned books — a medium he used as a means of commenting on the diminishing practice of reading physical books in today’s society. He reflects on how the act of burning books has been used to condemn social, political and cultural oppositions. Transforming the burnt material, the artist recognizes the profound value of books, and aims to shed light on reading as a positive aspect of human development.
Officially registered as a humanitarian organisation with the Charity Commission for England and Wales in 2019, Intisar Foundation is the first charitable organisation in the Middle East dedicated to providing psychological support programmes of drama therapy to Arab women affected by the brutality of war and violence.
