Sheikha Hala Mohammed Al Khalifa is the director of the Culture and Arts Directorate at the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities. She is a practicing artist who exhibits her work both locally and internationally.
She was the Head of Art Education at the Museum of Islamic Art Qatar Museums Authority from 2008-2011. Sheikha Hala implemented the distinctive Artist Residency Project, where she set up the Fire Station: Artist in Residence Program in Doha, in March 2015. Prior to this she taught art as a professor at the University of Bahrain.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from the Museum of Fine Arts School & Tufts University, Boston (1999), and a master’s degree in fine arts from UCL at the Slade School of Fine Arts, London (2002).
Officially registered as a humanitarian organisation with the Charity Commission for England and Wales in 2019, Intisar Foundation is the first charitable organisation in the Middle East dedicated to providing psychological support programmes of drama therapy to Arab women affected by the brutality of war and violence.
