Born in Jerusalem, Lina Hijazi is a Kuwaiti visual artist with a BA in Psychology and Philosophy. The self-taught artist has attended many art courses in the USA, Italy, UK, Kuwait and Lebanon. She has exhibited her work in group and solo shows in Kuwait City, Beirut, Cairo, Jeddah, Turkey, France and Copenhagen.
Her work touches upon the themes of perfectionism through the meticulous technique of pointillism, constructing her images through miniature brushstrokes. To grant her works a multifaceted visual significance, she emulates three-dimensional surfaces with the use of gradient shading, constituted by small dots. Her incorporation of a wide and vibrant colour palette is visually striking and illusory, captivating the viewer by transcending the medium of painting and transforming her canvases into visually sculptural works.
Officially registered as a humanitarian organisation with the Charity Commission for England and Wales in 2019, Intisar Foundation is the first charitable organisation in the Middle East dedicated to providing psychological support programmes of drama therapy to Arab women affected by the brutality of war and violence.
