“No one has ever thought of women as peacemakers in the Arab world”- HH Sheikha Intisar AlSabah

Intisar Foundation is a humanitarian UK- registered charity founded in 2018 to provide Arab women with mental health support. It is the first organization to work on the mental health of women affected by war and trauma in the Arab world. Our President and Founder, HH Sheikha Intisar AlSabah, has always made it her mission to help heal others and help spread positivity. She commits herself to the reconstruction of injured souls by focusing on the foundation’s mission on psychological support programs. Intisar Foundation exists to be part of the solution to bring peace to every woman by providing an initial response through psychological support programs of drama therapy.

Message from Our Founder

“I always want to inspire positive change and highlight positive role models and stories”- HH Sheikha Intisar AlSabah interview with the Executive Women Magazine

I am an ardent believer of peace and humanitarian actions. Being fully committed to humanitarian causes, I have dedicated my time and efforts to issues of education, health, child protection, and human rights. I have been active and involved in spreading awareness and raising funds for UNHCR for victims of the Syrian war. I aspire for a better life for all, starting with women as they are a key pillar of society. Starting from that idiom, I founded Intisar Foundation, a UK registered humanitarian charity to support women to be heard and seen. It is a private initiative born from my desire to give the opportunity for women to treat their psychological trauma, strengthen their own resilience, and to give them a new perspective on their lives. Through the vocal and visual expression of their stories and I know that the empowerment of women through greater internal strength and self-worth will bring peace to the Arab world.

I believe that women are the cornerstone of every household and the material that holds the community together. We must focus our efforts on women’s psychological needs, as they will instill this positive change and peace within their families and communities at large. Intisar Foundation ensures an effective and sustained psychological improvement for Arab women, as it is a unique model developed by us.

The Start of our Journey

We believe that women are the cornerstone of every household and the material that holds communities together. Focusing our efforts on women, as we believe will instill this positive change within their families and communities at large. We provide gentle, culturally sensitive, and non-stigmatizing approaches to psychological support through the use of Drama Therapy that targets women in refugee dense and marginalized areas.

The Drama Therapy approach is impactful and effective in alleviating trauma and psychological distress. We have helped women overcome depression, anxiety, PTSD, and better manage their stress levels. With creating a sense of belonging, our One Million Arab Women feel empowered to become the dividends of peacemakers in the Arab world.

Our Journey Continues

We offer group therapy of 12 to 16 weekly sessions over 3 months period for each group of women. Our programs are operational in Lebanon and Jordan. Each group is no more than 20 women, giving the participant enough time and space to heal properly.

After the achievement of our drama therapy weekly sessions on the field, the impact seen and the need said for wanting more sessions from women, urged HH Sheikha Intisar AlSabah to create a needed Follow-Up Program to the same groups. The need for continuity in sustaining and supporting women to achieve personal growth and heal every once (1time/Month) per month on a prolonged year time.

This unique model is the first of its kind developed by Intisar Foundation, to ensure the sustainable growth and impact of women affected by war in becoming the changemakers of peace in the Arab world.

Our Victorious Logo

Intisar Foundations’ new logo symbolizes the journey of a woman affected by war through the use of Drama Therapy that liberates her mind and releases unresolved emotions. Our woman goes from being in the foetal position caused by feelings of torment and helplessness and as she starts attending our programs she grows in resiliency as she strengthens her tired mind, stands up to have a voice, and to be seen and triumphant over her ordeal. This transformation showcases her victory over her trauma while rising to the challenge of rebuilding her self-confidence, holding up her family, supporting her community, and bringing peace to her country.

The logo entails the story of change, showing how with support of Intisar Foundation, a woman in despair morphs to a woman rebuilt, self-assured and victorious. Intisar in Arabic means “Victory” in V shape and the logo is a dedication to the triumph of hope & peace over helplessness and hardship.
